About the Institute

The Institute relies on the support of an advanced technology system, which allows it to care for patients with safety and quality, worthy of a top team.  The Technological Platform of the Ruettiman Institute (RIA System) was developed to guarantee quality and efficiency in the services offered to the population. The platform uses applications (APP) and a web panel in four different modules with access controlled by user and password, maintaining data security and for patients. The four modules are: control of material used, inventory control, queries and research. The RIA System was created to ensure control of internal processes, from the use of materials to the quality of services provided. In this way, care activity and management are evaluated and optimized, generating quality, scientific and administrative knowledge

The idealism and dedication of Dr. Marcelo Liberato and team, culminated in projects and a social program started in partnership with the Municipality of Salvador – Ba. Since the beginning of the program in 2013, more than 8,000 citizens of Salvador have been treated, and more than 2,500 wounds or venous ulcers. The ulcer healing rate ranged between 75% and 80%, which is comparable to the best results published in the international literature.

The benefits for the low-income population are clear, mainly access to extremely humanized and effective treatment, and the great improvement in quality of life. Currently, there are long queues for the surgical cure of varicose veins in the SUS, a secondary fact to the high prevalence of the disease in the adult population and the inability of the conventional surgery regime by the SUS to meet the high demand of patients.

Indirectly, treating a larger portion of the population can reduce disability pensions and time off work, lowering government costs. In addition, by treating patients in the early stages of the disease, we would avoid progression to skin changes, ulcers, disability and precarious quality of life, with which more than one million Brazilians survive. Venous ulcers rarely cause the patient's death or amputation of the affected limb, but it certainly causes severe suffering and social segregation for this population.
